Eric--I am so sorry to hear about the death of your favorite (only!) aunt. But what an aunt she was. Telling the stories about low-hanging balls. Cutting her nephew's hair. Dancing, and laughing, and being an important person for you to love and admire. Damn, I hate grief. And I know too how the loss of a precious person takes you to the very core of remembering the other losses. It's a hard time. I hope that this weekend, you and your wife can have some warm, nurturing food, some good coffee, and quiet time to regroup. All the love, and thinking of you and yours.
grief is the source of love. it teaches us humans how to hold onto lightness and darkness of being. how wonderful to hold space for your aunt here. bless her!
It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo, the ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come, and when the sun shines, it'll shine out the clearer.
My sincerely condolences to you and your family Eric, for both your beloved aunt and your first child. It was beautiful and heartbreaking to read your remembrances of them and how movies helped you get through. Stay strong my friend ❤️
I'm so sorry for your loss Eric. Sending condolences to your family at this difficult time. Movies and other art are very healing even during tough times.
I'm sorry for you loss, Eric. Death really sucks! I do appreciate your illustration about Frodo and the Mordor Blade. I don't think time heals all wounds, but it does seem to ease the pain. I appreciate you and your writing. Thanks for sharing your pain with us.
Really sorry to hear about the death of your aunt, Eric. Sounds like she was a terrific person. And yes - films are vitally important. For one thing, they help me come to terms with death as well. I think storytelling helps us process dark times (especially those with temperaments like ours).
I'm so very sorry for your loss, Eric. Your aunt sounds like an amazing person ♥️
