You just named the new Decemberists’ album: The Winter King’s Daughter. Free tix 4LYFE!! It sounds like this flick is a little uneven, but worth a watch. The premise& its layers sound amazing. And I am deeply sorry for your childhood trauma. Kids should never have to bear those burdens. Write that f#%^* into some kind of mutant character in one of your tales. 😉♥️
Reading that left me with a burning question: can London-born Daisy Ridley pull off a Yooper accent? Because until this moment I did not know I needed to hear Rey talk about going to Escanaba to get pasties.

Born and raised in the Mitten, although not the UP. I took off to Texas after I graduated and have been here almost 20 years, which is hard to believe. I think a lot about moving back, given that the climate of Texas, both political and the heat, keeps getting worse. But it's not that easy.
This has also got me thinking, the only other movie I can think of off the top of my head that takes place in the UP is Reindeer Games. Which for some inexplicable reason I remember seeing in the theater.
I'm gonna break your heart here, but I couldn't remember which of those two Star Wars movies I'd seen, and had to go look it up (It was the Last Jedi).

Uneven but worth a watch is 100% accurate!
I will have to put in on the list!

Came here to say the same thing.
No, she can't. She doesn't try. To be fair, I've lived in Michigan my whole life and I can't either.
Daisy's accent is solidly Midwest but still seems a little off.
You seem to know an awful lot about Michigan. From around here?

Given the state of the country and the climate, Michigan is not a bad spot to be at all.
You're forgetting the Jeff Daniels classic 'Escanaba in da Moonlight'!

*and by "look it up," I mean go ask my son.
Heart unbroken. You did a wise thing by skipping The Rise of Skywalker.
Naturally, being from Michigan, you gravitated to the setting.
I was very excited by the gratuitous shot of the Mackinaw Bridge.
This film isn't out in the UK yet. I'm looking forward to it.
