"I wore my best Boba Fett t-shirt for the occasion." I think this says it all! Delightfully, I might add :) I'm so happy you got to share that experience with your son. That is seriously really special and very sweet. A perfect beginning to a new tradition :)

Phantom Menace gets a bad rap, but I like that film. I remember really enjoying the pod race, and when other people complain about it, I just get confused, haha. I even like Jar Jar, so I do not know if I am the best judge of things out there.

I thought they handled the Queen's passing well in The Crown. The way she walked off screen in the church, with the light shining down, felt like a metaphor for her leaving this world behind.

Yes! That's a good point. I thought they handled that whole storyline with great tact, especially since she recently passed away.

Your post got me thinking about everything that has happened in my life since Phantom Menace. I had just finished my freshman year of college when the movie was released. Then I saw it again last week as someone who, at least by all outward appearances, is a functioning adult. Even if I was seeing a 25 year old movie by myself at lunchtime on a Friday. It was worth seeing it again in the theater just for the pod race and the final duel.

Totally agree. I kept questioning if it was even worth it to go. Especially since my son has seen it a bunch too. But you can't top the sheer spectacle of the theater experience.
