I, too, detest the monarchy but have to say that The Crown is first rate! I was late to the party - didn't start watching it until about a year ago, then binged all the episodes and waited with bated breath for the new ones to drop. This current chapter with Diana, Camilla and Charles is beyond timely, considering what's going on IRL (as the kids say)...
Eons ago I picked up The Razor's Edge because: Bill Murray. But I don't think I made a dent as I can't remember anything about it. YOU (not Bill Murray) have inspired me anew! I just went through another watch of Wednesday (chef's. kiss.) And am reading a surprisingly exciting bio of Sam Adams by Stacy Schiff--turns out he was the Revolution puppet master and not just the cheapest beer on tap. :)
Sammy knew what he was doing politically and with them hops! Definitely slide Wednesday higher up in that cue, especially if you enjoy Tim Burton. I also watched this latest season of The Crown. It was kind of beautifully melancholy..I think they did a good job rescuing it from the soapy waters of last season. I agree with you on the Royals obsession..have not put one toe in the Harry Meghan docu-situation. No. :)
Watching the wire (pretty old) and white lotus (pretty new), and halfway thru Bullet Train (pretty entertaining). Reading Atomic Anna by Rachel Barenbaum and I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention my book, When We Were Mothers, which is coming out in 11 days!!!
I do something similar to this format in my newsletter, Nicci’s Notes, where I talk about something that’s exciting, entertaining, and enlightening me that week. Great minds!
Woohoo! Thanks! This book is fiction! I’d call it feminist speculative or reproductive dystopia. I’d also comp it to The Handmaid’s Tale.
I like the wire, I guess. I hear season 3 is where it gets really good. I can’t imagine that show making it to 3 seasons in this day and age though. People are too impatient. It took time to grow on me but I do think it’s well written and the characters and casting are great.
I see what you did there.

I hope you like the book! It does take a while to get going, and the language is a bit obtuse at times. Just FYI! :)
I've heard so much about Wednesday. Maybe that should be next, once we finish The Crown. If you have already watched it twice, it can only be amazing!
It's really hard to beat a Sam Adam's Cherry Wheat on a hot day.

I'm glad you stuck with The Razor's Edge!

The Wire is one of those shows that has been on my list forever, but I've never actually sat down to watch it. One of these days!
Congrats on the book!! Is it memoir or fiction?
I subbed to your newsletter this morning and am going to look through your backlog shortly. :)
