I think you need to be writing about Deadwood for sure. I would even allow you to bump WMCJump down a few slots. Is Al maybe one of the most complicated & finely wrought characters in TV history (up there with Walter White & Tony Soprano), I think yes. Reading your short (too short IMHO) piece here, I wonder if what makes Al so lethal is his vulnerability. It’s like he knows if he even allows for an ounce of it to be seen or felt, he’s done for. And we know how he’s made to reckon with that in bigger & bigger ways. I may have to get my ass to the ‘Wood sooner rather than later. SO! GOOD! 💥
TOO SHORT?! Gads, the Deadwood piece was practically as long as the rest of the high 5 combined! Should I just make this a Deadwood newsletter? A modern day A.W. Merrick?? 🤣
As much as I like Timothy Olyphant (maybe not as much as you LOL), Al was always my favorite character on Deadwood. He is a complex and complicated character played by a great actor. Al provides a necessary evil for the show but I don't think he sees himself as evil. He does what needs to be done. Case in point when he takes care of the Reverend. I am curious if you plan to watch the Deadwood movie. If so, I hope you write about that.
I watched the movie the minute it came out. It was disorienting and less than a final season, but it provided closure at least.
Totally agree about Al. He's a pragmatist and a businessman. As the show goes on, you realize almost everything he does is in the interest of the camp.
Calling Starfield a Han Solo / Malcolm Reynolds simulator is making it harder and harder to resist temptation.
As Palpatine once said: Dew it.

HAAAA!!! You would have at least one reader! Give those Yankton c%^*suckers a run for their money 😁
A response in three parts:
* Living in Packers/Bears country as a Chiefs household means we are pretty much invisible. Until this morning.
* Al Swearengen is one of my favorite villains that I hate for making me love him. Up there with Vito Corleone, The Chicken Man, and Count Dooku.
* My hat’s off to the wardrobe designer on Justified: City Primeval. The choice of tighty-whities that don’t quite fit for Clement was genius.
As always, thanks for your weekly recap!
Hey Liz! I for one am tired of Clement and his tighty-whities. Though adding the kimono was definitely a look. Totally agree about Al!
Gonna be playing Starfield until I’m dead
Same! Every time I play, I love the game more. Finally found a shielded cargo bay tonight. Let the good times roll.

Happy the Lions won, pissed they aren't filming City Primeval in Detroit ( other than cheap B roll )
I KNOW. Filming it in Chicago felt like a slap in the face.
It did feel like Detroit, at least.
People in Cleveland were really pissed we shot Kill the Irishman in Detroit.
Go Lions! They have never won a Super Bowl (never made it, even) are long overdue...
The Lions are legit. Justified is back on its righteous and glorious path thanks to Boyd Crowder's return.
