Another great listen/conversation...of course! I didn't stick with Cobra Kai (I think I made it through 3 seasons and a little of the fourth?), but I agree with you that one of my impressions was why they had to make Johnny such a "just doesn't get it loser!" It also seemed like at the end of Karate Kid he was ready to at least move away from the fucked up nature of Kreese's teachings (I did appreciate seeing some of his backstory in the series..the Vietnam angle made some of his macho-grande-douchery make sense). I was also more invested in his character in the series, wanting him to get the wins he deserved, than Ralph Macchiato and his crew. Also: Agree with Marmi on that drink name. MISSED OPPORTUNITY STARBUCKS..AS USUAL!!
Cobra Kai fizzled out basically when you bounced. I stuck with it only for Johnny, and at this point will finish out the series (the final season dropped a few months ago).
