I really had no intention of talking about The Penguin two weeks in a row.
At best, I thought I’d do another Penguin pod once the season ended. In fact, I already have vague plans to do so. But my hand was forced by powers beyond my control. Sometimes the only thing to do is give in and let Calgon take you away.
I’m talking about The Penguin again for 2 reasons:
Everything I thought I knew changed in the course of 2 episodes.
It’s really really good. Incredibly, it keeps getting better.
There’s also something to be said for talking about a show in quasi-real time. Between the dump-and-binge model employed by Netflix and the general proliferation of shows, it’s hard to find a show that’s a) released weekly; and b) worth talking about every week.
This is a spoiler-heavy podcast. I wouldn’t listen unless you have seen through episode 5.
Topics Discussed In This Episode:
The battle for Victor’s soul.
The tragedy of Sofia Falcone and her dark rebirth.
Reconsidering Oswald in light of the Sofia-centric episode.
My deliciously divided loyalties.
