Desperate for Andor Season 2. Agree with everything you said about the first season. I’ll add that the reason I think it stands out is because it’s Star Wars for adults, which is a very rare thing. Rogue One got close but they used the android to add brevity. But the genuine tension in Andor was remarkable, and I feel like the show went under most people’s radar.
Yes to Paradise, The Last of Us, and Wednesday! Also, Squid Game S3, Cobra Kai S6 Part III, and White Lotus S3.
Looking forward to Superman for sure! Also maybe Thunderbolts. And on the musicals front, Wicked Part II and even Snow White. Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot are always great! Lastly, Paddington in Peru 🧸
First off, if you like mind bending & quirky shows that also manage to have an insane amount of tension and that have outstanding acting, you’ve got to watch Severance. So good.
Can’t believe the original crew (Boyle/Garland/Murphy- I don’t care what they say, I think he’s the crazy guy AKA “Jimmy” hanging out with the infected and attacking the soldiers in the trailer) is back for 28 Years later. The trailer is amazing.
I’m down for all the superhero movies this year. The second trailer for Captain America gave it more of the Winter Soldier spy thriller vibe, so I think it’ll be good. Thunderbolts looks great. Superman gave me chills and looks much better than I expected. Fantastic Four was one of my favorite comics as a kid and I think Marvel’s first family finally gets the movie they deserve.
Can’t wait for Andor! My favorite Star Wars movie is Rogue One (or The Dirty Dozen in Space) and the show is fantastic.
I’m not sure if another season of Slow Horses is coming out in 2025 but I sure hope so. Such a great show. No one I know watches it. Their loss.
I’m sure there was more but I’m typing this on my phone. My thumb hurts. Thanks for the recap.
Additions: Daredevil!!! So excited.
Also, they were shooting some of The Battle of Baktan Cross about a mile from my house. Could be an interesting movie.
On the Stephen King front: Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck with Tom Hiddleston, Edgar Wright’s The Running Man (based on the actual story unlike Arnie’s version) with Glen Powell, and Francis Lawrence’s The Long Walk (longest odds, I think) all have a shot to be amongst the best adaptations of King’s work.
If you’re expecting something like the original movie version of The Running Man, you’ll likely be disappointed. This one is supposed to stick to the original story- Arnie’s version had some things that were similar but it deviated from the original story a lot.
Here’s something Director Edgar Wright said about it:
“In terms of things that I've been, like, The Running Man, which is something that is in active development. Why is that interesting to me?
“It's like, I like the film but I like the book more, and they didn't really adapt the book. Even as a teenager when I saw the Schwarzenegger film I was like, 'Oh, this isn't like the book at all!' And I think, 'Nobody's done that book.'
“So when that came up, I was thinking, and Simon Kinberg says, 'Do you have any interest in The Running Man?' I said, 'You know what? I've often thought that that book is something crying out to be adapted.'”
Except for Iron Fist. Finn Jones just didn’t work as Danny Rand for multiple reasons.
As a kid, I had a lot of Power Man & Iron Fist comics (they were often available at garage sales in the 80s) and I had a pretty good feel for those characters.
Mike Colter as Luke Cage AKA Power Man? Chef’s kiss! Perfectly cast. Loved him and he 100% fit the part for me.
Finn Jones as Danny Rand AKA Iron Fist was weirdly annoying and just off-putting for me. I really wanted to give him a chance (Iron Fist was a favorite of mine- such a cool character with a crazy costume!) so I kept watching, thinking maybe his character would improve.
I don’t remember if he improved or not (I don’t think he ever got better), but it didn’t matter because the other main aspect of the Iron Fist character in the show didn’t work. Every other person (where appropriate) looked like a legitimate martial artist except for Finn Jones.
The other characters would be marveling at his amazing style/skill as he fought, but all the fantastic moves must’ve happened off-camera because I never saw them. He looked awkward and his moves seemed basic. Honestly, his style reminded me of Eddie Murphy and Steve Martin at the end of Bowfinger.
This drives me crazy, going so far ahead. Now you have to come back and do it closer to the event. I'll get excited then, maybe, if I'm still kickin it and trump hasn't fucked all the good stuff out of existence. Just saying...

Totally agree. It's a special show and is exactly what I wanted to see in Star Wars.
28 Years Later…let’s go!!!
Still waiting impatiently for s.3 of Hacks in the UK. That Squid Game finale was nuts, glad we don't have to wait too long!
The Keanu movie sounds delightfully batshit. Thanks for bringing it to my attention
I agree! I'd love to see more gonzo comedies.

Great list! I tried to limit myself to 12 of each. It was so hard!

I'm intrigued by The Running Man remake because the original is iconic and Powell is reliably good.

Great picks and most of them I want to see.
The mini Netflix MCU was/is better than the Disney one and I’ll die on that hill

Great rundown - marking my calendar - fanfare at it’s finest 🎥🎬
