Thank you very much for the shout, Eric. Still finding my way on Substack (and my presence has been intermittent this week) but I'm slowly getting there. :)
Funny story (true story), but Steve Rogers is how I learned that I'm not just into women. Specifically, the scene in Age of Ultron when he ripped the log in half and I suddenly thought of some other things he could do with his hands.
I voted for hunky glistening post-serum Steve, is what I'm trying to say.
You have inspired me. I will be publishing a list of eight things I'm grateful for in your honor. Didn't someone once say that imitation was the best form of flattery?
I'm still salty about Grantland's demise. Rembert Browne used to leave me wheezing--and that's just one of many whose work I still miss. I'm rooting for your streak of mentioning it to continue!
I'm a Peggy Carter fan thru and thru. The First Avenger is my favorite because of Steve's evolution not just physically but emotionally and socially. Peggy (just like Bucky) is with Steve from the beginning. I chose Old man Steve Rodgers because it means he made it back to her in time for that slow dance 💗
It would be interesting to compare the current Cap and Bucky with their counterparts in the vintage Simon-Kirby comics of the 1940s. Of course, the latter pair were less dramatically complex...
I’ll probably comment again when I’m done but leaf blowers paired with work from home and one of my neighbors even uses his for grass clippings nearly drove me insane.
I’m not mad I’m just disappointed at the disrespect for Wash.

It's good to see you here, Simon!
Thank you, Kevin. Likewise. :)

The log tear is one of the most impressive feats of strength I've ever seen in a movie.
Sprinting to check my inbox for WMCJ piece. A sprint is what’s happening. 💥💥💥
I said NEXT week! 🫠🤣
Brilliant links this week! Loved the Rick James skit and then catching a glimpse of 4 panel wonders! Brilliant.
Ahhhh the leaf blowers! Our neighbor who also was a professional lawn servicer, had not only one leaf blower but two! Double leaf blower!!
Kill me now
I always think about doing NaNoWriMo. I've even started it a few times. Unfortunately the real world always gets in the way.
Same. Still, some words are better than no words.
Yeah it may be a good excuse to get back to the novel I’ve been dabbling with off and on for a while.
Great list. Dueling leaf blowers for the win.

Consider me flattered! Looking forward to your list. Why 8 things though?
I just thought The Grateful Eight had a ring to it. Plus, turn 8 sideways and it becomes infinite gratitude.
Genius on both counts!
I put it here https://substack.com/@timebl

A number of the staff followed Bill Simmons to The Ringer, another good site. But Grantland was something really special.
I feel your leaf blower pain! And now your nanowrimo pain as you just inspired me to sign up for it - eek!

That's a great justification for the pick! :)

YES. This is what I was dealing with today.
Wash is clearly a dark horse MVP candidate but I get the Kaylee love.
