No problem! It was one of the ones that definitely caught my attention. I don't think we're friends on there yet--in fact, I'm not sure I still even have an account? Gonna need to double check that.
EDIT: Turns out I do have one; it's just been idle for a few years. Updated just now, and request sent!
I have read and listened to The Creative Act, and it is one of the rare instances where the audiobook is better. With Rubin's rich, mellow voice and the gong, it is a full-immersive experience. The content is phenomenal and I have shared parts of it with my teenager as example of "different is good", and how rules apply and when they don't. Phenomenal book.
p.s. I discussed the newsletter with the Mrs. and I think I will begin looking into it on my off-week. Thanks for the push!
The various Conan around the world series of shows are so good. He's somewhat an unlikely ambassador for us all and yet I'm very comfortable with him nonetheless. He puts a funny and kind foot forward.
Just waitlisted myself for The Creative Act! Now that I've finally finished both Simon's and Sheila's books, I'm ready for a new one.
You know I am #TeamKareem 4LYFE; however that MJ book does sound very intriguing. I know close to zero about most sports other than tennis and basketball and a bit of boxing - but I do have somewhat of an issue with what you said about sportswriting.
Whether it's something like Bill Plaschke or my nephew's writing for Penn State, or an autobiography like James Blake's, or a wisdom-filled book by a legendary coach like Wooden - for me as a reader I am rarely disappointed! Bill Simmons however...😒😝
They are really cool. I've thought about buying some. My issue with toys is the same with Star Wars legos. I only have so much room and right now books and vinyl take up that room, and I don't see me stopping those collections any time soon. Still, maybe just one black series figure to keep on my desk wouldn't hurt...
Thank you again for getting that Rubin book on my radar! It strikes the perfect balance between short chapters and deep thoughts. That's no easy feat.
Next up on my Want to Read list on Goodreads! Are we prens on there yet? Buddy Gott is on there and other fine folx from Discord 🤓
P.S. Thx for calling out my free-form response on your year-end readers poll! Happy to see Daft Punk and YLT get multiple votes 😃

You guys are meeting on Goodreads without me?!
Pren me on there like Kevbo!

I love the idea that he's a great ambassador. It's totally true!
A podcast?
Indeed! I'll probably looking for guests at some point.. ;)
That Conan was the best! Happy new year Eric!
LIkewise, Reuben! Hope 2024 is off to a great start for you!

That Mando figure is pretty sweet! Is it Black series?
You know it! Black Series is one of the best things to come to Star Wars in a long time.

Hmm, you piqued my interest with that Jordan book, for sure.
