Really love & appreciate for Ken Dad-doll perspective AND that you played Barbies with your daughter like a BOSS!! That melts my plastic heart. I wonder if this film will also encourage guys to see their kids’ Barbie play differently. I can’t wait to take the ride in my Dream Jeep!! (Meep Meep! 💗)

Concur with you as per usual! Yup Eric is a saint for playing Barbies with his daughter. I had a few Barbie things as a little girl, but then I moved onto Hello Kitty as you know.

I remember one time when our kids were young, a friend who was a fellow parent just got back from dadding at Gymboree. He was visibly shell-shocked at what he had just experienced, confessing to us with a vacant thousand yard stare "GYMBOREE IS NO PLACE FOR A MAN."

So again, mad props to Eric on the awesome parenting skills, and wonderful review as per usual!

That is pretty funny!! I think Gymboree is no place for a sober person! 😳😉

The impassioned speech made me feel the same way. I also noticed in that moment you could hear a pin drop in a packed to the gills theater. I won't forget that moment nor how I felt. This movie was such a big swing when it didn't have to be. And it got almost all of the ball every time it took a hack. So good.

Kudos for playing Barbie with your daughter! That's a cool dad move.

I don't care much for the film (or I should say I'm not particularly excited to watch it), but I'm sure I'll give a shot at some point.

I try convincing my daughter I'm still cool but sadly she disagrees.

Your Ken-ergy perspective is well-received. Unlike Emily Blunt's character in Oppenheimer, Gerwig crafted a complete arc for Ken. Women and girls of color have a complicated connection to Mattel's prized possession. I’m working on a piece that sorts out this intricate history. Stay tuned…

Gerwig's plastic pink wonderland was a delight to me. My mind was flooded with memories of playing with my Barbie dream house and zooming in the pink Corvette. Barbie is what the film industry needs more of: bold and brazen technicolor blockbusters with genuine heart and soul. Gerwig and company have crafted a successful addition to the cinematic and cultural landscape.

Love this! An interesting perspective on a movie that was indeed wild and weird.

I can't recall ever even asking my dad to play with my Barbies, but we DID have Luke and Darth Vader dolls that I may have caught him with a few times, lol. Until Luke met an unfortunate end in his battle with the lawn mower, that is.

Poor Luke! LOL

If I recall the incident correctly, he lost an arm, which is pretty funny when you think about it.

It was preordained!! :D
