It’s like THE UNIVERSE knew we would need to stick our heads in a bottomless bucket of beautiful and weird pop culture treasures!!! Mythic Quest in January—PACE YOURSELF!!

I never quite got into Mythic Quest, which seems so crazy. I think I've seen 3 or 4 episodes but it never totally grabbed me. I'll try again. :)

It’s worth sticking with the first season at least.

Arcane has no right being as good as it is. A fucking LOL based animated series that hits hard and has beautiful animation. Truly amazing

💯 agree. I wasn't prepared.

I don't really watch much television, as you know, but I daresay I'll dip a toe in Dune: Prophecy.

Speaking of comedies, not particularly sex, but the '90s, whatever happened to Janeane Garofalo?

You know, that’s a great question. Garofalo was everywhere in the 90s and hasn’t been seen since. It’s a shame, I always liked her snark.

I agree.. I have a SPREADSHEET! to be able to track everything and that's kind of bananas..

The Knight Before Christmas is charming, one of my faves - agree it not having a sequel was criminal. I watched Hot Frosty (also Netflix) this week and let's just say they took inspiration in some ways from TKBC I felt, also better than expected. Looking forward to Bad Sisters, found OMITB a bit lacklustre this season in all honesty. Currently watching the (finished) show War of the Worlds (Gabriel Byrne), it's good but a bit depressingly apt for the moment. Look forward to Penguin at some point, when I finish the rest of all of the shows! ;-)

I love your medieval Sir Joe Biden DnD yogi character with his buttonless butt flap PJs, sounds hilarious!

We did have a grisly murder in our building almost a decade ago; unfortunately it was in the unit across from ours 😳 and yes we did move a couple years after that. So, I guess for me the answer is one. We have Hulu but I've never gotten around to watching OMITB despite all the accolades. I like Selena and Steve and Martin but the premise just hits way too close to home!

Only Murders is pretty harmless and not at all heavy, which is weird given the subject matter. Would definitely recommend!

1) I don't know how you evaluate something like The Penguin with that giant BATMAN-shaped hole at the center of the narrative. How is it possible no one brings him up during this show? Batman pretty seriously roughed the Penguin up during that movie. And he also put a dent in the crime families that are doing battle within this show's narrative! It seems really strange that there are these shootings and stabbings and even bombings involving very high profile Gotham City people, and Batman is just off-screen washing his tights? Sofia Falcone got out of Arkham after ten years -- that would have ABSOLUTELY been on Batman's radar, even inexperienced Year Two-Pattinson Batman! Really terrific show, Farrell was great, but I just really don't know how to address how this show almost feels like it's own beast when it's actually a direct continuation. Better off never mentioning Batman instead of sporadically and fleetingly.

2. My lady friend is totally oblivious to the whole Marvel machine, hasn't seen the movies. So I had her take a seat and watch "Eternals" just to gauge her reaction with fresh eyes. And, drat, we both only lasted a half hour.

3. TITANE. I hate to laugh.

4. Depends on the building, but I don't scare easily. My whole brand is about me being in prison! You merely adopted death! I was molded by it!

I actually prefer The Penguin specifically because it wasn't about Batman at all. Not even in mention. So agree to disagree, though I'm very psyched to see what The Batman: Part 2 looks like!

Great Bane reference! :D

1 - not yet but now that all the episodes are out it's time to watch The Penguin.

2 - She is featured semi-regularly in my newsletter under "Things My Wife Has Said About Star Wars" and while she acts like she doesn't care, she'll try to troll me to get me to write whatever she says.

3 - I didn't have cable growing up, my parents somehow thought if I only had 3 networks and PBS I'd grow up to be a well adjusted person. Joke's on them. I never saw a lot of the 80's sex comedies. So I'll have to go American Pie from high school. Or maybe Superbad if we're going to count that as one.

4 - Hmmm...to boomers who fled to the suburbs in the 80's, my part of Dallas is synonymous with murder so I'm not sure what it would take to get me to move. There was one two years ago involving a stabbing and body on fire about 5 blocks from my house. I'm still here.

Also for too much Peak TV, I am really excited about Say Nothing. The book was incredible. I might watch it over Thanksgiving week.

Big fan of your wife's appearances in your newsletter!

American Pie and Superbad are classics of the genre. Good picks.

Let me know what you think of The Penguin. :D
